FAQs

What are the benefits of massage?

A common misconception regarding massage therapy is that it is only good for relaxation. However, this is not the only reason one would seek a massage. While it does help the body relax by helping in the reduction of the stress hormone, massage can have very profound effects on the body.

When the body endures trauma or overuse injuries, it makes a pain pattern that can cause chronic pain as time goes on if not addressed. With the techniques I offer, chronic pain is hacked down by disrupting the body's pain patterns to create a lasting change.

Massage improves circulation and the stimulation of the lymphatic system, which is hard at work helping get rid of toxins and waste from your body. It not only helps with pain, but it can assist in a faster recovery from soft tissue injuries.

Arvigo Massage Therapy helps heal the digestive and reproductive systems in both men and women. It helps to restore the body to its natural balance by correcting the position of organs that have shifted and restrict the flow of blood, lymph, nerve, and chi energy.

What can I expect from my first session, how will I feel afterward?

Comparably to some spas, your time starts before actually reaching the table. Here at Forever Healing clients will receive their full allotted time. Whether that may be sixty, ninety, or hundred and twenty minutes, no time will be wasted off the table. I spend time with all my new clients getting to know your needs as well as performing some muscle testing to get to the bottom of your pain before you ever get on my table. This time is added to your choice of duration for bodywork.

Some clients completely disrobe for their massage, but you should only undress to your comfort level. You will be modestly draped and only the body part that is being worked on will be exposed.

The bodywork will be tailored to what you are seeking relief from. During your massage, it is encouraged that you communicate with your therapist in regard to pressure and technique. The goal is to make you feel comfortable throughout the entire session.

Most clients leave very relaxed and feel lighter in their bodies. However, in some cases, it is possible that you will feel a little muscle soreness for the next 24 hours. Chronically tight muscles and the bodywork depth received can cause this soreness. This varies for each client.

Toxins are released from your soft tissues, so it is strongly recommended that you drink plenty of water following your session in order to rehydrate your body.

What medical conditions would make massage a contraindication?

Please inform your therapist of any health condition, injuries, surgeries, and allergies you may have. If you are under a doctor’s care, it is strongly advised that you receive a written recommendation for massage prior to any session. A recommendation or approval may be required from your doctor for serious conditions.

Conditions include; certain forms of cancer and/or if you are currently undergoing chemotherapy and radiation, Phlebitis or Thrombosis, certain heart or blood conditions, certain skin conditions (recent burn, local contagious or irritable skin condition) opens sores or wounds, contagious diseases including colds, flu’s, or fevers, an acute flare-up of inflammatory conditions such as Rheumatoid Arthritis, if you are pregnant please consult your health care provider before receiving massage therapy.

What is Neuromuscular Cupping Therapy and can I receive it?

Due to health complications of the Covid 19 virus and how cupping works in the body, receiving this therapy will be determined by the amount of time you last tested positive and your current symptoms.

Massage Cupping is a modern adaptation of the ancient art of cupping therapy. Massage is performed by applying pressure, while cupping uses negative pressure to pull, lift, open, and expand the body’s soft tissue. Neuromuscular techniques are performed after cups are placed on affected muscle areas. The techniques performed, connect the muscles to the nerves allowing the body to let go of its habitual holding patterns.

Please be informed, that if you have liver, kidney, or blood clotting disorders, then you should not receive cupping. In addition, clients who are at risk of heart attack or stroke should also seek alternative treatments. If you are pregnant and have never received cupping before this therapy is not for you at this time. If you currently have an infection of any kind it is not recommended to receive cupping until the infection is properly treated.

What can I expect from my cupping session?

If this is your first time receiving cupping from Forever Healing Massage, you will need to schedule an initial consultation with bodywork. During this session, we go over an in-depth body pain assessment where we can uncover your body’s pain patterns. Some muscle testing will be done to further decide where the issues reside. The bodywork is performed, after which a game plan is made for future sessions.

It is important to drink plenty of fluids after receiving any deep tissue work through cupping or massage. It is best to not shower or apply heat or ice to your body for several hours after receiving cupping. It's normal to feel somewhat sore after a cupping session and it will resolve within 24 hours. Cupping can leave marks on your body that will fade and go away after a few days, please do not worry because this is completely normal. These marks are not bruises. A bruise caused by blunt injury and trauma where blood from broken capillaries is trapped under the skin. Bruises typically are tender to the touch.

Cupping Marks are stagnant blood, cellular debris, or pathogens that are brought to the surface for the lymphatic system to clear away. This is usually a result of past injury or illness. These marks tell us a lot about what is going on in the tissue.

Being hydrated before coming in for your cupping appointment is also super important and will affect your recovery process following the session.
